About
Paintings meant to be enjoyed slowly.
Welcome! My name is Jessica Ridens. I am a painter working primarily in oil and watercolor. I create pieces that explore quiet moments, natural beauty, and the feeling of being grounded. Painting has long been a way for me to slow down and observe more closely, allowing me to reconnect with myself and the world around me.
In today’s fast-paced world, my work offers space for calm and peace, inviting the viewer to slow down and appreciate the moment. I’m drawn to subjects that feel familiar and comforting, such as landscapes, florals, and still lifes. My work often balances softness with structure, allowing color, texture, and mark-making to guide the mood of each piece rather than strict realism.
I began painting during a period in my life when creativity became a form of refuge. What started as a personal practice grew into something I wanted to share, not as a statement to be proven, but as an offering. In a world that truly needs it, my art exists to bring calm, warmth, and a sense of presence into everyday spaces.
I have studied painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I continue to refine my technical skills while honoring the intuitive, emotional foundation that first drew me to art.
My paintings are meant to be enjoyed slowly and lived with, becoming part of the everyday moments that make a space feel like home.
